Other Ways to Give

Stock - We can receive donations of stock, sell them, and use the funds for conservation.

Donor Advised Fund (DAF) - Have you set up a donor advised fund (DAF) with a foundation or financial organization? If so, you can direct gifts to Jocotoco.

Your IRA - You can donate to Jocotoco from your retirement plan. The Internal Revenue Service allows individual retirement arrangement (IRA) owners age 70½ or over to donate up to $100,000 to not-for-profits like Jocotoco tax-free each year. These transfers are known as qualified charitable distributions or QCDs. For those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward the IRA owner's required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year.

Planned Giving - Through planned giving, you can ensure that future generations have the same opportunities as you to discover new species and marvel at the beauty of the world around us. By including us in your planned giving, you can join others like you in our "The Condors" Legacy Society. Read more about the Legacy Society HERE.

You can join The Condors, Jocotoco’s Legacy Society, by including Jocotoco in your planned giving. There are many different forms of planned giving.

  • You can make a bequest by listing Jocotoco in your will or trust.

  • You can name Jocotoco as a beneficiary on a life insurance or retirement plan.

  • You can create a Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, receiving a tax deduction and annual income while leaving the remaining assets to Jocotoco.

Our Legacy Society is new but growing. Each year we will host unique events for the Legacy Society. Joining the Legacy Society is a great way to meet more people who care deeply about conservation. Thank you to all of our Legacy Society members for caring so deeply about Jocotoco:

  • David Agro

  • Frank and Susan Gilliland

  • John Guarnaccia

  • Heather Hodges

  • John Moore
